You might have came across a very annoying problem on YouTube with the playback – the reloading or restarting of YouTube videos when switched to the Fullscreen mode. It’s all fine when you watch YouTube videos in default standard mode, this problem arises only when you click that Fullscreen icon at the right corner of the video – you lose all of the streaming been done so far.

Why this happens? YouTube provides best playback quality based on the player size by default. That’s why when you switch a YouTube video to Fullscreen mode, the streamed video is not of the best format for the current, modified environment with different player size and/or resolution, therefore, it starts reloading.

Is there any way to stop YouTube video reload? Yes, of course. If you have an account on YouTube, you can change this default switching of playback options easily. Follow these simple steps and stop YouTube videos from reloading on Fullscreen mode:

  • Login to your YouTube account and go to your Account Settings

[YouTube » My Videos » Account Settings]

  • Click on Playback Setup option on the left side
  • Now, under Video Playback Quality, just select the option “I have a slow connection. Never play higher-quality video.” instead of the default selected option “Always choose the best option for me based on my player size”.
    youtube video reload
  • Click Save Changes. Done!

You will not get any video restarting issue further anymore. Have you implemented this method in your YouTube account?
