It is no doubt that RTI act has empowered the position of the citizen in India but still people do not have much information about it even after 6 years of it’s incorporation. Now, while considering all this, RTI India has launched a mobile application for Android phones to expose it more – to make it more accessible to the people in India. The mobile application provides a Social Networking environment with a RTI encyclopedia help book, which people can access to know the basics of RTI act.
CJ Karira, moderator of the RTI India Online Portal, quotes – “It basically allows members of the website to access all the information, forums and questions on their mobile phones.” The portal has significantly gathered over 225 thousand members till 2007 and is hoping to grow more with this new application. Karira adds – “With all the applications out, we hope to cover at least 75 per cent of the market.“
With this application, you can not only read, search or post questions at RTI forums (powered by vBulletin) on your Android device, but can also use the Social Networking feature to add friends, send and receive personal messages, upload photos, add events and more. The Application also has a special section for those who do not have any idea about the format of an RTI letter. It also catalogues all the information regarding the state and central government rules.
So, if you have an Android phone, you can avail the features of this app to know more about RTI India Act (2005). If not, you should wait a bit as it will be available for iPhone, Windows Mobile, Symbian and Blackberry very soon.
