Airtel started providing a talktime loan facility a while back. Similarly, you can also avail a short loan for internet credits using Airtel prepaid. In other words, get the Internet working when short of balance, and pay later!

Such a facility turns out very handy when you feel serious need of internet but…

  • Your regular internet is down
  • Or you don’t have a medium to top-up your mobile internet credits

The shortest amount of data loan Airtel offers is 80MB 3G/4G data worth Rs. 10 for 2 days on prepaid connections. You can ask for the data loan only if…

  1. Your prepaid connection should be at least 90 days old
  2. Your account shouldn’t have any outstanding loans

Asking for Internet credits with Airtel is easy; dial USSD *141*567# and follow the instructions. A message like “You want 2G Loan or 3G/4G” or something similar will appear.

The message so flashed also carries inputs with different credit amounts. Next you’ll have to follow the ever changing instructions as advised.

This way you can avail an airtel data loan of up to Rs. 50 with a small amount of service charges payable on recovery. It’ll be a bit more than the original amount because of the service cost Airtel charges for the facility.

For instance, you took a data loan of Rs. 10. You’ll be paying back Rs. 12 (Rs. 10 for the data, Rs. 2 for the service charge) at the time of recovery.

In case your account balance goes nil, the loan amount will be levied the next time you recharge.
